Reliance Jio is in talks with Chinese Tech giants Xiaomi to bring Mi TVs to India and is also looking to sell Xiaomi smartphones exclusively at Jio online retail networks and Reliance Digital chain of physical shops. Xiaomi and Jio are also reportedly eager to strike a partnership to bring Xiaomi's Business to Business (B2B) products like PoS machines to India.

Xiaomi and Reliance Jio senior officials have met several times in the last few weeks to chalk out a deal. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd is on track to becoming India's largest telecom operator and broke into the top 3 barely a year after its launch while Xiaomi is already dominating the Indian smartphone market and is the largest selling brand in India.

A deal between the two may very well be a significant event in the country's smartphone and telecom market, depending on the terms of the understanding. The arrival of Xiaomi Mi smart TVs in India may bring about another significant shift in the consumer electronics market in India.

For the uninitiated, Xiaomi sells a range of high-quality smart television- dubbed Mi TVs- in its home market in China and some other countries but is yet to debut them in India. The Mi TVs are significantly cheaper than offerings from traditional TV manufacturers with similar features. – T2 online
